![]() Place a layer with the shape you want to clip the other with at the bottom of a group and layers above with the Inherit alpha option. Krita has no clipping mask, but there is a simpler workaround involving layer groups and Inherit alpha (see the alpha icon). You can not apply filters to group to affect multiple layers. You can select multiple layers on the stack by holding down the Shift key as in PS, and if you move the layer inside a group you can move or transform the whole group – including doing selection on the group and cut all the sub layers inside on the fly. The PS way leads to a cleaner and better ordered layer stack visually wise. ![]() Krita’s way is more predictable according to some artists, compositing-wise. In Krita the compositing will happen at first level inside the group, then taking into account the blending mode of the group itself.īoth systems have pros and cons. On Photoshop you can use groups to just clean your layer stack and keep blending mode of your layer compositing through all the stack. This can be surprising for Photoshop users. The group blending mode in Krita has priority over child layers and overrides it. Groups and Blending Mode (Composite Mode): ¶ ![]() The most common default shortcuts are very similar in PS and Krita:Ĭtrl + Shift + E: flattens all (not the Ctrl + Shift + M shortcut as in PS)Ĭtrl + G: create new layer group and move selected layers to this group You have to use the button on the Tool Options. However, the T key is also used to switch to the Move tool, so this shortcut is not functional right now. Intersect is a selection mode which uses the T key as the shortcut. ‘ Keyboard’: with the + and - keys on your numpad keyboard.Īs in Photoshop, Painter, Manga Studio: use the Ctrl + Space shortcut to zoom, and the Space key to pan. ‘ Mouse wheel’: down and up for zoom, and press down to pan your document. In Krita you can navigate your document using all these methods: This chapter covers how you use Krita in the basic operations compared to PS. When you get used to Krita, you will find that Krita has some features that are not part of PS. This means that PS has more features than Krita in general, but Krita has the tools that are relevant to digital painting. The first thing to remember is that Krita is a 2D paint application while Photoshop (PS) is an image manipulation program. But even though things may change in the future, the basics will most likely remain the same. This introduction is written with Krita version 2.9 and Photoshop CS2 and CS3 in mind. The intention is to make you productive in Krita as fast as possible and ease the conversion of old habits into new ones. This document gives an introduction to Krita for users who have been using Photoshop. Which Windows Update do you have? (I’m not sure how to check it myself).Introduction to Krita coming from Photoshop ¶ Introduction ¶ Does it work better (as in, not have this issue)?ĭo you use the default shortcut scheme or Photoshop-compatible one? Both in Keyboard Shortcuts and Canvas Input Settings. What was your previous version of Krita - maybe 4.2.9? The one where it wasn't happening?Ĭould you please check the portable version of Krita 4.2.9? (Unzip, double-click on krita). We've seen people having it, however we cannot fix it without much more information, right now we're as clueless as you and other users :( I thank you very much for helping me and for this software, i love it a lot! It suits my painting style and workflow deeply, if more info is needed i will glady provide. My situation is not urgent but its very distracting during my workflow to try to do the comand > realize hotkeys arent working > pressing ctrlz to unlock them > pressing it again to undo the strokes i made by aciddent when hotkeys were off > only then doing what i was gonna do. I've read somewhere someone with the same problem discribing as the ctrl key getting "stuck" (but not on windows level only on krita level) but it seems he could only solve the problem by restarting krita (bless his soul). I have tested and is not a problem on my keyboard or windows, bc when the hotkeys stop ive observed that the space ctrl and shift key are fine on my browser or other apps. Pressing "e'' for eraser is also another command that seems to "release" the hotkeys and i do not know how and why they get unavailable in the first place. Im using windows 10 and krita 4.3, the problem is: Sometimes, some hotkeys (like ctrl for colorpicking, shift for brushsize, space to pan, amongnst others) stop working, this problem has been happening for some weeks and my workaround is: when the hotkeys stop working i then press ctrl+z which does NOT undo, but now hotkeys are available again, shift is fine, color picking is fine and the next ctrl+z will actually undo my last stroke. First hello everyone and thanks for reading my problem, i love krita and this comunity.
